1. Anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties:
The European Commission has imposed definitive countervailing duties on imports of stainless steel cold rolled sheet and plate (SSCR) originating in Indonesia, and the measure applies to material produced in China, Taiwan, Turkey and Vietnam. Imports from these regions were consequently subject to a standard tariff of 20.5%.
The Eurasian Economic Union imposed anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled seamless stainless steel tubes originating in China at a rate that was adjusted several times and eventually increased to 29.39%, and plans to extend the validity of this measure until January 22, 2029
2. Anti-circumvention investigations:
The European Commission found assembly operations in the Taiwan region of China, Turkey and Vietnam to be potential methods of circumvention because products assembled in these locations used significant quantities of Indonesian stainless steel raw materials. As a result, the EC extended Indonesia's countervailing measures to these regions and imposed tariffs on specific imported materials.
The Eurasian Economic Commission also conducted an anti-circumvention investigation and found that the products in question, originating from China, may have been re-exported into the Eurasian Economic Union through Malaysia in order to circumvent anti-dumping duties. As a result, anti-dumping duties were also imposed on cold-rolled seamless stainless steel tubes imported from Malaysia.
3. Product standards and certification requirements:
The EU has strict requirements on the quality and safety of stainless steel water cups and other products, and importers need to ensure that the products comply with the standards stipulated by the EU, such as EN 12546-1, etc., and pass the product certification and conformity assessment by the EU's designated certification body.
The EU has strict restrictions on the materials used in stainless steel water cups, which cannot contain banned hazardous substances and need to meet the chemical requirements for food contact materials.
4. Other import requirements:
Stainless steel products imported into the EU need to provide relevant documents and certificates to prove that the products comply with EU requirements, including product test reports, material affirmations, production quality management system certificates and so on.
Importers need to establish a good relationship with EU importers to ensure compliance with EU requirements and smooth sales of products.
