China’s Ministry of Commerce has announced that it will initiate an expiry review of the anti dumping duties on stainless steel billets and hot-rolled stainless steel plates from the European Union, the United Kingdom, South Korea and Indonesia.

China’s Ministry of Commerce has decided to maintain the current anti-dumping duties on imports of stainless steel products from the EU, the UK, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia, Kallanish reports.

The European Commission’s new quota period for steel imports between July 1 and September 20 has started.

According to a statement published in the country’s Official Gazette, Turkey has launched an anti dumping investigation on cold rolled stainless steel flat steel from China and Indonesia. The investigation covers the period between January 1, 2021, and December 31,2024.

In May this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to 174,400 mt down 10.14 pecent month to month, while up 23.05 percent year on year, according to China’s customs authorities.

EU trade policy is often influenced by the international situation. For example, when the EU has trade frictions or tensions with a country, it may adjust its import policy towards that country.
